Overview

The file type is one of the pieces of information describing a file rendition. The administrator should create the file types required and used by the Telescope users.

This article provides the process of adding a new file type in Telescope.

Process

1. Log in to TSAdmin as a database administrator, click File Types in the navigation pane.
   
   
2. Click the Add button to add a new file type.
   
   
   
   
3. In the window that opens, fill in the details for the new file type as per the following instructions.
   
   
   
   1. Enter a four-character code in the File Type field.
      
      
   2. Enter a Description for the file type.
      
      
   3. In Choose New Thumbnail, click Browse to select a thumbnail image file to represent the file type and then click Apply.
      
      
4. Click the Save button on the top right corner to save your changes.

Confirmation

The new file type should be visible in the File Types list.
